Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cars for Ministerial Purposes.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the respective types of motor car used for ministerial purposes in the last ten years or which it is intended to purchase in the next couple of years, and in each case, the price thereof and the percentage of such price which represents the value of manufacture, assembly, or other work of any sort carried out in Ireland.

The types of car used for ministerial purposes in the last ten years were:—

and the total cost in the ten years was £71,818 12s. 6d.

It is not possible to give the percentages of the costs which represent the value of manufacture, assembly, etc., carried out in Ireland.

As already indicated in replies to recent questions, the type and make of car to be purchased later on will be determined when the need for replacement arises in the light of the circumstances then obtaining, including the range of cars available, their prices and the requirements of individual Ministers.
