Vol. 165 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Treatment of Persons Detained in Six Counties.

asked the Taoiseach if he is aware that it is alleged that persons taken up by the R.U.C. and British military forces in the Six Counties are subjected to ill-treatment by them and forced to make false admissions; if he has any information to confirm this, and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I am aware that allegations of the nature mentioned by the Deputy have been made. I have, of course, no official information on the matter and no means of securing evidence that would enable me to come to a judgment on the facts.
