Vol. 165 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Board of Assistance Footwear Vouchers.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will ascertain and state the number of (a) free, and (b) part-payment footwear vouchers issued by the manager of the Dublin Board of Assistance to recipients of home assistance in respect of the winter scheme 1956-57 and 1957-58, respectively.

Under the 1956-57 public assistance footwear scheme, the Dublin Board of Assistance issued 4,654 vouchers free of charge in respect of children of recipients of home assistance and 5,397 vouchers in respect of children of persons who were not otherwise in receipt of home assistance and who were required to pay a contribution assessed by the public assistance authority.

The current year's scheme will not terminate until the 31st March and it is not yet possible, therefore, to give the corresponding figures for the 1957-58 scheme. However, the figures up to the 31st January, 1958, to the classes in question were 3,013 and 2,443, respectively.
