Vol. 165 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Dwellings Acquisition Act, 1957: Valuations.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of cases referred to the Commissioner of Valuation since the enactment of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Act, 1957, for consideration under Section 2 of the Act, and in each case (1) the name of the local authority concerned, (2) whether the indication by such local authority was upheld or increased, and (3) if the latter, the percentage increase.

Four submissions have so far been made to the Commissioner of Valuation pursuant to Section 2 of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Act, 1957.

One submission concerned the Dublin Corporation and, in that case, the amount which the commissioner considered might properly have been indicated by the corporation was 7½ per cent. greater than their figure.

The other three submissions concerned the Dublin County Council. One of them is still under consideration by the commissioner. In the remaining two cases his figures were 9 per cent. and 10¾ per cent. greater than the respective indications of the county council.

If it is convenient, would the Minister say the date on which it was submitted to the commissioner and therefore how long it has been before him for consideration?

I know that the reports of the Valuation Office have been considered by the county manager in both cases. That is as far as I can go.
