Vol. 165 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Congestion in North Kerry.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the lands in North Kerry which the Land Commission propose to acquire this year for the relief of congestion.

Land Commission records are not kept on a constituency basis. In the North Kerry district, however, proceedings have been instituted for the resumption of one holding comprising 34 acres and in addition negotiations are in progress for the voluntary purchase of five estates comprising 166 acres. Due to the uncertainty of the outcome of acquisition and purchase proceedings, it is not possible to forecast what holdings may become available for the relief of congestion in a particular year. Furthermore, in the case of voluntary purchases, it would be a breach of confidence if the Land Commission were to disclose details in advance.
