Vol. 165 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 2, 7, 4, 8, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. If not already reached, it is proposed to interrupt business at 7 p.m. to take Nos. 11, 12 and 13, and, when completed, to resume the order. Private Members' business will be taken at 9 p.m.

Could the Tánaiste give us any intimation of when the Opposition motion in respect of wheat will be taken?

Time has been given to-morrow for the motion which has been tabled in the name of the Opposition Deputies. It is proposed to devote five hours to this motion and it might be convenient to let it run for five hours and take Questions afterwards.

Is it proposed then that the motion will be taken at 10.30 to-morrow morning, that it will run for five hours and that Questions will be taken afterwards?

That is so.

That is a sensible arrangement.

May I give notice of my intention to raise the subject matters of Questions Nos. 72 and 74 on the Adjournment this evening?

I shall communicate with the Deputy.

Might I ask if the Minister for Justice has decided whether or not the Government will give time for the Private Members' Bill during this session or is it the intention to let it go on at nine o'clock to-night?

I have consulted the Government on the question of providing time for this Private Members' Bill during a period when financial business might be under consideration in the House and the Government have agreed to provide Government time in respect of the Bill. That does not mean that I am giving any opinion on the Bill itself. That is a matter for further discussion.

Is it proposed to give time for Private Members' business at nine o'clock to-night?

That is right.

Could the Minister give us any idea of when time will be given for this Private Members' Bill?

I gather the Deputy is under a misapprehension. The understanding is that when the Minister for Justice is in a position to announce the Government's position in the matter time will be made available no matter what business is in progress.

I made a guess last week and said that time might be given to this Bill in a month or six weeks.
