Vol. 165 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Medical Cards.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the proportion of the population in County Wexford to whom medical service cards have been issued under the Health Acts, and the number of applications for medical cards which has been rejected.

The latest date for which the information required by the Deputy is available is the 31st December, 1957. Medical cards current at that date covered 24,905 persons (including dependents) in County Wexford, representing 28.5 per cent. of the population of the county.

The total number of applications for medical cards rejected was 928.

Would the Minister oblige the House by speaking a little louder? He cannot be heard on this side of the House.

I am very sorry. It is seldom that I am reproved for not making myself heard.
