Vol. 165 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Underground Air-Raid Shelters.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will make a statement on his Department's policy as regards the provision of underground air-raid shelters for the citizens of Dublin.

I am not at present in a position to make a statement of policy on this matter.

I do not think that is a very good answer.

Hear, hear!

I put it to the Chair that the building of air-raid shelters in the capital city is a serious matter for the Minister for Defence.

The Deputy must understand that he cannot make a speech in connection with every question.

I am putting it to the Minister that I am not satisfied with his answer.

The fact is that I am not in a position to make a statement of policy on this matter.

The Minister should make up his mind.
