asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of the period 1st April, 1957, to date and the corresponding period of the previous financial year the receipts from entertainments duties in respect of admission to cinemas showing separately receipts in respect of combined film and live shows.

The approximate net receipts from entertainments duty in respect of cinemas admissions, including admissions to combined film and live shows, for the periods 1st April, 1956, to 31st January, 1957, and 1st April, 1957, to 31st January, 1958, were £1,218,000 and £1,135,000 respectively. Except in the case of one theatre there are no separate statistics of receipts from combined film and live shows. It would be contrary to practice to divulge information relating to the business of an individual theatre.
