Vol. 166 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Turbary Facilities.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to make turbary facilities available to applicants in the Lenavea and Raheenbar bogs, Castlebar, County Mayo.

There is no turbary on hands in the townland of Raheenbar. A scheme has been approved by the Land Commission for the provision of turbary facilities in Lenavea for some 130 families from the district, but its operation must await the completion of the extensive and costly development works in connection with such a project; the necessary funds have been sanctioned.

This is only the first step towards the provision of turbary for deserving tenants in this part of County Mayo: further measures to provide turbary on bogs already on hands or in course of acquisition will be taken as circumstances permit.
