asked the Taoiseach if he will state the estimated quantities of creamery butter and margarine consumed as such per head of the population in the years 1956 and 1957.
The average consumption as such of creamery butter per head of the population is estimated at 29.6 lb. in 1956 and 27.2 lb. in 1957. The corresponding figures for margarine were 4.8 lb. in 1956 and 5.1 lb. in 1957. The estimates for 1957 are provisional and subject to revision.
