Vol. 166 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 7 and 8. It is not proposed to interrupt public business at 9 o'clock to take Private Members' business. As regards No. 7, the Control of Manufactures Bill, in view of the number of official amendments, it is proposed, in order to convenience the Dáil, to pass the Bill through Committee and to adopt the amendments without debate so that the real topic of the Bill may be discussed. The Bill will be recommitted then and the normal Committee Stage procedure adopted.

And the Minister giving a brief explanation of the reason for each amendment?

I did not propose to do that to-day.

That was one of the things that was specifically agreed to with the Whips.

I am prepared to do that if it is asked for but it would be difficult to do that without provoking debate in some cases.

If the Tánaiste inquires I think he will find that that was one of the most specific things agreed to.

If an explanation of the amendment is asked for I will give it briefly.

Or if the Tánaiste would like to furnish a copy of the explanation to each of the Parties that would meet the case.

I shall try to do that.

May I ask your permission, Sir, to raise the subject matter of Question No. 52 addressed to the Minister for External Affairs on the 26th February last?
