Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Development Fund Allocations.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give particulars of the projects uncompleted on 1st April, 1957, for which allocations had been made from the National Development Fund and including in each case (a) the amount of the total allocation, (b) the amount unexpended on the 1st April, 1957, and (c) the amount which will remain unexpended (very approximately if exact figures are not available) on 31st March, 1958.

The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have circulated in the Official Report.

NOTES.

No. 1.—£29,500 has been made available for a pig progeny testing station at the Minister Institute, Cork. The balance of the allocation is in abeyance.

Nos. 2, 4 and 6—in abeyance.

No. 3.—the allocation was increased from £150,000 to £181,000 in February, 1958. The unexpended balance shown in cols. (3) and (4) relate to the latter figure.

No. 7.—the original allocation was £600,000. It was reduced to £423,000 in July, 1954, following certain modifications in the B.T.E. Scheme.

No. 12—the allocation was increased from £48,500 to £55,500 in February, 1958.

No. 13.—abandoned. The allocation has been transferred to that for No. 3.

No. 15.—the allcation was increased in April, 1957, from £45,000 to £52,500 and in May, 1957 to £65,000. The unexpended balances shown in cols. (3) and (4) relate to the latter figure.

No. 16.—the original allocation was £550,000. Following revision of the scheme of works it was reduced to £400,000.

No. 20.—abandoned.

No. 27.—the allocation was increased from £27,550 to £30,700 in January, 1958. The unexpended balance shown in col. (3) relates to the latter figure.

No. 28.—the allocation was increased from £25,000 to £28,000 in April, 1957. The unexpended balance shown in col. 3 relates to the latter figure.

No. 29.—allocations in respect of this work were £1,000,000 in November, 1953, and £1,900,000 in May, 1954: total £2,900,000. This total was reduced to £2,500,000 in September, 1954. A supplementary allocation of £39,411 was made in March, 1955.

No. 31.—the allocation was increased from £250,000 to £255,000 in April, 1957. The unexpended balance shown in cols. (3) and (4) relate to the latter figure.
