Vol. 167 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Forestry Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the full particulars, including the title of the estate, townland and acreage, of each parcel of land taken over for forestry purposes in County Kerry as at the 31st March, 1958, and the lands, including acreage, etc., (a) developed and planted and (b) to be developed and planted; and whether, in the latter case, arrangements will be made to start work without delay with a view to giving much needed employment in the areas concerned.

It would involve the expenditure of an unjustifiable amount of staff time to extract information regarding each block of land taken over for forestry purposes in County Kerry as requested by the Deputy. I propose, therefore, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate, with the Official Report, a tabular statement showing particulars of each forest in the county as at 31st March, 1958, and the provisional planting programmes for the year 1958-59.

I can assure the Deputy that everything possible will be done to speed up forestry development in the county.
