Vol. 167 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Protective Barrier at Custom House Quay.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the repeated occurring of fatalities at Custom House Quay, Dublin, he will initiate proposals for the erection of a protective barrier to obviate further loss of life there.

The question of the erection of protective barriers at the Custom House Quay, Dublin, is one for the Dublin Port and Docks Board and I have no power to interfere with the discretion of the board in the matter. I am, of course, most anxious that all practical measures should be taken to prevent fatalities at the quay. I understand that various protective measures have already been adopted and that further measures are being considered.
