Vol. 167 No. 3

Committee on Finance. - Vote 8—Office of Public Works.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £267,440 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1959, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Office of Public Works (1 & 2 Will. 4, c.33, secs. 5 & 6; 5 & 6 Vict., c.89, secs. 1 & 2; 9 & 10 Vict., c.86, secs. 2, 7 & 9; etc.).

Are we discussing Vote 8 only or Votes 8 and 9——

We are discussing Votes 8 and 9. I understand that, according to practice, each will be moved in its turn.

That is the correct procedure. I am obliged to the Parliamentary Secretary. He appreciates the proprieties of procedure.

And of Standing Orders.

Send a note to the Department of External Affairs.

Progress reported; Committee to sit again.
