asked the Minister for Local Government if Cork Corporation have submitted to him particulars of their proposed capital expenditure for the year 1958-59; and, if so, if he will state the date upon which such particulars were received in his Department and detail the said particulars.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Corporation: Proposed Capital Expenditure.
On 5th April, 1958, I received from the Cork City Manager an estimate of the proposed capital expenditure of Cork Corporation in the year 1958-59. Particulars of the estimate submitted are as follows:—
Housing of the Working Classes |
£581,500 |
Small Dwellings (Acquisition) Acts |
£6,000 |
Supplementary Grants |
£15,000 |
Sanitary Services |
£61,000 |
Other Services |
£24,000 |
Total |
£687,500 |
Was the total within or in excess of the figure the Minister had allotted?
This is the figure for the coming financial year.
I know. The Minister indicated, I am sure, to the Cork Corporation what figure he would consider sympathetically.
That is not the usual procedure.
It used to be.
The Cork City Manager gave an estimate of what they would require. This statement provides particulars of the estimate which was submitted to us very recently, after we had asked for them.
