Vol. 167 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Markets for Agricultural Produce.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what progress has been made by the newly appointed marketing committee in securing markets for agricultural produce, and the amount of money spent up to date by this committee.

I am informed that the Advisory Committee on the Marketing of Agricultural Produce has been very actively engaged in examining the position in regard to the marketing of our main agricultural products and has had discussions with representatives of many organisations and firms concerned with the export of such products. It has also studied on the spot the marketing arrangements for some products in the Six Counties and Britain. The committee hopes to send in its first report within a few months.

As regards the second part of the question, expenditure so far amounts to £890.
