The information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department. Estimates were made at 31st March, 1956, and again at 31st March, 1957, when delays had occurred in sanctioning loans from the Local Loans Fund for works being undertaken by local authorities. These estimates showed that at 31st March, 1956, capital overdrafts for housing works were inflated by about £360,000 as a result of these delays and that at 31st March, 1957, capital overdrafts for housing works were inflated by about £750,000 and for sanitary services and other works by about £350,000 for the same reason.
