Vol. 167 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foreign Capital for Irish Industry.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, as an additional encouragement to the investment of foreign capital in Irish industry, he will favourably consider making provision in the Finance Bill for the repeal of Section 21 of the Finance Act, 1922.

I do not consider that the operation of Section 21 of the Finance Act, 1922, discourages the investment of foreign capital in Irish industry.

Oddly enough the Minister does not appear to have answered the Deputy's question. He has told him what he thinks. What the Deputy has asked is what is he going to do.

Arising out of the Minister's thinking, there does not appear to be anything to do.

At least the Parliamentary Secretary might have the courtesy to say that to his colleague, although it sounds to me rather a short answer.
