Vol. 167 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Day-old Chicks.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will take steps to ensure that day-old chickens sold by outside hatchers are of pure breed.

I am interpreting the Deputy's reference to "outside hatchers" as meaning poultry hatcheries operating outside the State. Our only imports of day-old chicks are from the Six Counties, but it is not practicable to restrict such imports to chicks of pure breeds.
