Vol. 167 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Harbour Master.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the post of harbour master at Dún Laoghaire was advertised in the public Press; whether the appointment was made by the Civil Service Commission or the Local Appointments Commission; and, if not, by whom it was made.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The appointment to the post of harbour master, Dún Laoghaire, was made by me in accordance with the powers vested in me by statute. The appointee was an established civil servant and a certificate of qualification for the post was issued by the Civil Service Commissioners in his favour.
