Vol. 168 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages on Corrib Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance if he proposes to increase the wages of workers on the Corrib scheme.

The rates of pay of workers on arterial drainage schemes, including the Corrib-Clare scheme, are at present under review, but I am not in a position to say whether an increase will be granted.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary state how soon there will be a decision on this matter? These men are working under coolie conditions and a decision should be arrived at.

It is under consideration, and I take it that a decision will not be very long delayed.
