Vol. 168 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medical Treatment of Gardaí: Capitation Fees.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the capitation fee payable to medical officers for medical treatment in respect of members of the Garda Síochána, and the nature of the services provided by the medical officers.

Medical attendants to the Garda Síochána who hold appointment on a capitation basis are paid a fee of 2/- per month for each member attached to the Garda station. They attend and treat all members of the Garda Síochána on duty in their districts (whether permanently stationed there or otherwise) and they advise on all matters affecting the health of the men and the sanitary conditions of the stations.
