Vol. 168 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyduff (Kerry) Water Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the delay in commencing work on Ballyduff water scheme, North Kerry.

I understand that the Kerry County Council have not yet succeeded in acquiring a way leave and right of way which are required for this scheme.

Is the Minister aware that this scheme, which has a very high priority with the local authority, has been on hands for a considerable time and is only held up at the moment because of very technical issues concerning way leave, in fact merely for the serving of notices on a few reputed owners? Would the Minister be kind enough to communicate with the county manager of the local authority concerned in an effort to clear up the outstanding questions of title with a view to having the scheme commenced forthwith?

I imagine we can pass on the request of the Deputy, but I would suggest it might be more effective if that request were made at some of the county council meetings in Kerry.

And duly recorded on a tape recorder.
