Vol. 168 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplementary Agricultural Grants.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of farmers in respect of whom supplementary agricultural grants are payable.

The supplementary agricultural grant has not been paid since the basis of distribution of the agricultural grant was changed by the Rates on Agricultural Land (Relief) Act, 1953. The employment allowances were increased under that Act and the number of admitted claims from rated occupiers of agricultural land for employment allowances in the financial year 1957-58 was 51,964 in respect of 82,056 persons of whom 41,348 were relatives of the occupiers.
