National income statistics are compiled only in respect of each calendar year. It is estimated that the amount of the national income was £446.7 million in 1954, £462,000,000 in 1955, £449,000,000 in 1956 and £468,000,000 in 1957. The figure for 1957 is a preliminary estimate.
