asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (1) when the differential of 5/- a week was granted to agricultural workers on his Department's farms and (2) the amount of money required to restore the differential to its original purchasing power at each subsequent publication of the consumer price index.

(1) The differential paid to agricultural workers on my Department's farms was increased to 5/- a week as from 16th August, 1948.
(2) With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement setting out the particulars, as furnished by the Central Statistics Office, required by the Deputy in the second portion of his question.
