Vol. 168 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1 and 3 and, in No. 3, Vote 26. If Vote 26 is concluded, it is proposed to take Votes 37 to 45.

Would the Tánaiste say what are the sitting days next week?

Wednesday and Thursday.

And not Friday?

Do Deputies want to meet on Friday?

I think it would suit us. I think it would be desirable for the House to get through some of its work on Friday.

I shall consider it.

Have you thrown up the sponge?

On a previous occasion when the Government were asked not to meet a third day, they insisted on meeting. I think on this occasion they should keep to it and sit on the Friday.

We shall consider it.

What are the sitting hours on Thursday?

If we meet on Wednesday and Thursday only the hours will be from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Does the business ordered to-day govern to-morrow, if No. 26 carries over?

If Vote 26 carries over, it will go on to-morrow.

Then does the Tánaiste propose to adhere to the order?

Not necessarily. If the Estimate for the Department of Agriculture does not finish to-day, it should not be assumed that the Estimate for the Department of Education will be taken.

Are we assuming we are meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday?

Not Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday—in other words, to suit Fianna Fáil having Deputies in South Galway. Public business is again being put behind Party business.

If there is any strong desire to meet on Friday, we shall accommodate the Deputy.

Then we shall.

If we are meeting only on Wednesday and Thursday, what are the sitting hours on Thursday?

10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
