Vol. 168 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation Commission.

asked the Minister for Social "Welfare if he will state the date of the setting up of the Workmen's Compensation Commission, the number of meetings held by the commission in each calendar year since its first meeting, and when he expects to receive the commission's report.

The Commission on Workmen's Compensation was appointed on the 21st December, 1955. Twenty-eight meetings were held in 1956 and 30 in 1957. I have been informed by the chairman that, pending the receipt of certain information which has been sought by the commission, it has not been possible to hold any meetings so far this year. I am also informed that while a date cannot be fixed it is hoped to have the report ready within the next 12 months.
