Vol. 169 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - “Garda Review” Editorial.

asked the Minister for Justice whether his attention has been directed to the very disturbing editorial in the Garda Review in which it is stated that discontent is rife in the force; and, if so, whether he proposes to make a statement on the matter, or to make investigations to see if there is any substance in the charges made.

I have seen the article referred to.

I know that the Garda Síochána like other workers desire to have their pay and conditions of service improved.

I am satisfied that the article does not reflect the feeling of the force.

Is the Minister going to take any steps to inquire into the alleged discontent in the force?

I meet the representative body on their request.

The Minister has met them?

I do meet them on request, as did my predecessors.
