Vol. 169 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Capital Investment Committee: Report on Housing.

asked the Minister for Finance why he has not published the report of the Capital Investment Committee on housing; whether he has since received any further report from that committee; and, if so, when it will be published.

I decided to defer publishing the report of the Capital Investment Advisory Committee on housing until the comments of the Departments concerned on the committee's recommendations had been considered by the Government. The report will be published in the course of the next week or so. The Government's views on the matters raised in the report will be explained when the legislation necessary to continue the Housing Acts and the Rent Restriction Acts comes before the Dáil.

I have just received a further report from the committee dealing with the principles on which future capital development should be based. This report is being sent for printing at once and will be published in due course.

Can the Minister forecast at all what the words "in due course" mean in respect of the second report he has received?

I cannot say. These things take four or six weeks to get to the printers anyway.

But it will probably be published during the recess?

I expect so.
