Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Act Maternity Services.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state (a) in respect of 1955-6, 1956-7 and 1957-8 the number of doctors in each health authority area who signed agreements for the provision under the Health Act, 1953, of services for women in respect of motherhood and for their infants up to six weeks old, and (b) the total amount of fees paid to such doctors in 1957-58.

As part of the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate the statement in the Official Report. The statement shows the number of doctors who had agreements with each health authority in the years ended 31st March, 1956 and 1957, respectively, for the provision of maternity and infant health care services. Complete figures for the year ended 31st March, 1958, including details of the fees paid to doctors in that years, are not yet to hand but as soon as they are available I shall transmit them to the Deputy.
