Vol. 169 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Planting of County Tipperary Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Forestry Branch of his Department intend to start work on the Trench estate, Sopwell, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary; and what steps it is intended to take regarding the 40 acres of arable land on the estate.

The Forestry Division of my Department has just taken possession of an area of 200 acres of the Trench estate, Sopwell. It is expected that part of the area will be planted in the current year but I cannot state definitely at this stage when work will start.

A decision regarding the utilisation of the arable part of the lands has not yet been reached—this matter will be fully considered as soon as possible.

The Forestry Division has also agreed to purchase further portions of the Trench estate, totalling 117½ acres, but the sale of these areas has not yet been completed.
