Vol. 170 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: No. 3 (Votes 46 and 36). It is proposed that the order fixing the Second Reading of the Solicitors (Amendment) Bill, 1958 for to-morrow should be discharged and the Bill taken to-day. It is also proposed to interrupt business at 6 p.m. to take that Bill and, when it is completed, to resume the order.

Deputies have been inquiring about the sitting times this week and next week. I suggest we should have a meeting of the Whips to-day or to-morrow to seek agreement on them.

I suggest to-morrow.

What does the Tánaiste contemplate?

There was a meeting of the Whips last week at which I think it was agreed it would be possible to finish the business for the session on Friday of next week but that it might involve some extra hours of sitting. The Whips will try to arrange what these extra hours will be.

In the alternative, we would meet in the following week to finish the business?

It might be necessary.

If we cannot agree, we can meet the following week to finish the business.
