Vol. 170 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of River Suck.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to undertake the drainage of the River Suck.

I am not in a position at this stage to give any indication as to when it may be possible to carry out a drainage scheme for the Suck catchment area under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945.

The question of a drainage scheme for the Suck catchment is closely bound up with the River Shannon flood problem which is at present under preliminary investigation arising out of the Rydell Report.

Does the guarantee given by the Parliamentary Secretary's predecessor still hold good, that the river Such would come next on the priority list after the Corrib scheme?

The Deputy would require to give me notice of that question. I am not going to commit myself in regard to priorities.

Is a survey of the suck being carried out?
