Vol. 170 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of National Library.

asked the Minister for Education whether the National Library is being closed for a period of seven weeks for redecoration; and, if so, whether having regard to the inconvenience which such a long closure would cause to users of the library, he will endeavour to have arrangements made to allow such portions of the building where decoration work is not actually in progress to remain open, and to reopen the entire building at the earliest possible date.

The reading room and the entrance hall of the National Library are being redecorated and the reading room will be closed for a period of six weeks from 14th July. The work is being done as rapidly as possible having regard to the size and height of the room.

During the period of the closing of the reading room arrangements are being made as far as possible to have the facilities of the library made available to those who require them urgently.
