asked the Minister for Health if he will state the present position regarding the appointment of temporary district nurses to permanent employment; and if he will make a general statement on these posts.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Temporary District Nurses.
Health authorities were notified on 19th June, 1956, that any temporary district nurse who was then employed by them might be appointed to a permanent post without advertisement or competition, when she had completed two years continuous satisfactory service and had the necessary qualifications. This is still the position. The Deputy will appreciate, of course, that the initiative in the making of such appointments rests with the health authority.
