asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state (a) the approximate number of words spoken on Radio Éireann relating to the Motion of No Confidence which was debated in the Dáil on Wednesday, 29th October, and Thursday, 30th October, (b) the names and number of Fianna Fáil Members and Ministers mentioned, and the number of words attributed to them, and (c) the names and number of other Members mentioned and the number of words attributed to them.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Contents of Radio Éireann Report.
I suggest that information of this sort in relation to broadcasting could have more appropriately been obtained by a direct inquiry to Radio Éireann. I have, however, obtained the particulars requested by the Deputy and they are as follows:—
(a) Total number of words reported from Radio Éireann on the Motion of No Confidence |
3,943 |
(b) Names of Fianna Fáil Members and Ministers reported:—
An Taoiseach
Ministers for Health and Social Welfare
Minister for Lands
Minister for Local Government
Total number of words attributed to Fianna Fáil Ministers and Members |
1,573 |
(c) Names of Members reported other than Fianna Fáil:—
Messrs. Norton
Dillon
Sweetman
Corish
O'Sullivan
Larkin
Cosgrave
Dr. Browne
Lynch
Blowick
Desmond
Total number of words attributed to these Members |
1,781 |
A number of words included in the grand total at (a) were not attributed to any Minister or member and have not, therefore, been included in the sub-totals in (b) and (c).
The Independents were not mentioned at all.
