Vol. 171 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of 2 lb. Loaf.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amount of the reduction in the price of the 2 lb. loaf as a result of the reduction in the price of flour.

I understand that the recent reduction in flour prices has resulted in a reduction of a farthing in the price of the 2 lb. loaf.

In view of the fact that farthings are no longer used as currency, would the Minister say how it is proposed to make the reduction effective?

I am quite certain it can be done.

The bakers are making a little bit of money on this.

They are the Government's friends.

How can it be done if farthings are not available?

If the Deputy is short of farthings I shall see that he is supplied with them.

Will the Minister supply the public with them?

They are being supplied.
