Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Rural Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the location of rural cottages at present under construction in County Limerick, (b) the projects for which tenders have been approved and on which construction work has not yet begun, (c) the further proposals, if any, by Limerick County Council at present before his Department for approval, and (d) the number of rural cottages completed in each of the years, 1956, 1957 and 1958 to date.

As the reply is a lengthy one containing lists of a number of districts, it is proposed, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

The following is the information requested:—

(a) Rural cottages are at present under construction by the Limerick County Council at the following locations: Clooncon, Ballaghbehy, Ballinruane, Gortnagross, Turnafulla (3), Ballydoorty, Finnertstown, Mornane, Askeaton, Cunnihee, Elmpark, Faha Demesne, Drominboy, Woodpark, Legane, Camas.

(b) Tenders have been approved and construction work has not begun on cottages located in the following areas: Castlemungret, Knockrour, Clonoughter, Dromreash, Ballylin, Carrowmore, Direen, Derry, Ballyhomin, Ballycahane.

(c) The only proposal by the Limerick County Council regarding the provision of rural cottages at present before the Department for approval relates to one cottage at Shanagolden in respect of which revised plans were submitted on the 26th November, 1958.

(d) In the years 1956, 1957 and 1958 to date 131, 53, and 29 rural cottages respectively were completed by the Limerick County Council.
