Vol. 171 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Pensioners.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in view of the hardships suffered by State pensioners in consequence of the substantial rise in prices since they retired, he proposes to grant an increase to such persons.

The Pensions (Increase) Acts, 1950 and 1956, provided pensions increases for certain categories of State pensioners. As I indicated in my reply of the 9th July last to a question by Deputy Casey, no further increase in pensions is contemplated at present.
