Vol. 171 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Bellew's Bog (Galway).

61.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is expected that Bellew's bog, Mountbellow, County Galway, will be divided by the Land Commission.

I presume the Deputy is referring to the bog on hands of the Land Commission in the townlands of Shankill and Doonwood on the Grattan Bellew estate. It is not yet possible to indicate when this turbary will be distributed. Perhaps, however, the Deputy may have in mind a bog at Carrownagappul, about two and a half miles north of Mount Bellew. If so, I can say that proposals are at present being formulated for the disposal of some 500 acres of this turbary which, it is expected, will accommodate about 250 applicants.
