asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total number of Government sponsored commissions at present in existence, and their estimated total cost.

Two commissions appointed by the Government are at present in existence—the Irish Manuscripts Commission, established on the 10th October, 1928, and An Coimisiún um Athbheochan na Gaeilge, established on the 15th July, 1958. The total cost, to the 31st December, 1958, of the Irish Manuscripts Commission was £64,829; the corresponding figure for An Coimisiun um Athbheochan na Gaeilge was £1,079.
