Vol. 172 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fees for Birth and Death Certificates.

4.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the amount paid during the year ended 31st December, 1958, for birth and death certificates to (a) Central Registry Office, Custom House, (b) Superintendent Registrar's Office, Pearse Street, and (c) dispensary medical officers, Dublin district.

Separate records are not kept in respect of receipts from certificates of births, deaths and marriages respectively and, consequently, the information requested by the Deputy at (a) and (b) of his question regarding payments for birth and death certificates only is not available. The total amounts paid to Oifig an Árd-Chlaraitheóra and to the Superintendent Registrar's Office, Pearse Street, Dublin, for certificates of births, deaths and marriages during the year ended 31st December, 1958, were £10,429 and £1,718 respectively.

As regards (c) of the Deputy's question, no returns are made to my Department of payments received by dispensary medical officers in respect of certificates issued by them and, consequently, the information sought under this head is not available.
