asked the Minister for Defence how many service medals have been issued under the Military Service Pensions Acts in each year up to and including the year 1958; how many mints of the medals have been made; if he will state the date of, and the number issued under each mint; whether there are any outstanding applicants awaiting the issue of medals from a fresh mint, and, if so, when they will be supplied.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Service Medals.
As the reply to the question is mainly statistical, I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission, to have it circulated with the Official Report.
The information required is as follows:—
It is assumed that the Deputy's question refers to 1916 medals and 1917-1921 medals. The number of such medals issued in each year since issues commenced in 1942 is as follows:—

No person to whom a medal has been awarded is awaiting one because of the non-availability of supplies. Sufficient stocks of the medals are held to meet forseeable requirements for some time to come.
