asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in respect of the Department's farm at Johnstown Castle, County Wexford (1) the various classes of agricultural, horticultural and forestry experimental operations in progress, (2) the number of agricultural, horticultural or forestry workers normally assigned to each experimental division or compartment, and (3) the rate of wages paid to the workers assigned to each division or compartment.

(1) The Deputy will find these particulars in the Department's Special Leaflet No. 32, a copy of which is being forwarded to him. No forestry experiments are in progress.

(2) The number of workers employed on experiments varies seasonally, but the average number of such workers is 32, including 24 farm labourers. It is not possible to indicate how these numbers are distributed on the basis of experimental divisions.

(3) The farm labourers are paid £5 inclusive a week. The normal scale of adult field assistants is £7 5s. to £9 0s. 7d., inclusive, a week.
