asked the Minister for Agriculture what the amount of the estimated total subsidy on butter exports will be in the financial year ending 31st March, 1959, and what part of this was financed from the Exchequer, and what part from levies collected on butter produced.

The total subsidy on butter exports is estimated at £2,674,000 in the financial year 1958-59. Of this amount, £2,025,000 will be paid out of the Exchequer and £649,400 from levies collected from creameries on sales of butter.
