Vol. 173 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Charges.

12.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is the intention of the E.S.B. to reduce their charges for light and for power generally or under any heading whatsoever; or if any consultations in this regard have been held between his Department and the E.S.B. or independently.

I am not aware of the intentions of the E.S.B. with regard to their charges for light and power. No consultations in the matter have been held between my Department and the board. Under statute, the fixing of charges for the supply of electricity is a matter solely for the E.S.B.
