Vol. 174 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cabinet Minister's Wife's Travelling Expenses.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance what are the precedents, if any, for the payment out of State funds of travelling expenses for the wife of a Cabinet Minister travelling on State business.

Expenses of the kind referred to by the Deputy do not lend themselves to the formulation of precedents, because each case in which it is found necessary in the public interest that a member of the Government travelling on State business should be accompanied by his wife, has to be determined on its own merits.
